My Birthday Camping Trip

We went camping at Bastrop State Park to celebrate my 32nd birthday. It was fun...mostly. The trip started off a little shaky by almost not getting a campsite for Saturday night, because we didn't make reservations. I was on the phone for 1.5 hours calling every campsite within 100 miles of Austin and nothing was available. Stephen calls a couple of times and gets a reservation at the park I originally wanted to go to. We planned on spending 3 nights and 4 days camping, but Maya got sick the second day/night, so we left 1 day early. We had fun relaxing, biking, and hiking. Samuel spotted a female Northern Cardinal, and we learned all about the noisy crows. Stephen gave Samuel his first knife, and so he spent the entire time whittlin' sticks. He only cut himself twice :-)

Maya spent a lot of the time riding "Eva, Ginger & Lily's bike". She only wrecked one time :-)

Stephen bought me a new hammock. It was a hit!

We spent our last night eating birthday s'mores around the campfire while I read The Dragon Rider, Maya played a "lullaby" and Samuel whittled.
