We finished exploring Redwood National Park by driving through a beautiful grove that was once a carriage trail and driving down the coast. It was too foggy to see the whales feeding :(
We then ventured road 299 to Lassen NP. This was supposed to be a 4.5 h drive according to google, but we drove for over 6 hours....winding up & down through mountain passes...it was tortuous!
We again got one of the last spots in the national park, and it was again very pretty. We had a nice dinner and campfire and snuggled up before the temperature dropped (I LOVE these warm days and cool evenings!)
A significant difference on this trip is our lack of eating out. In 17 days, we have only eaten out once...for breakfast. By getting an earlier start, we can have dinner in the campground. It has saved us some money and kept us much healthier!
Next stop...Fairfield...
