Tsukihoshi

Tsukihoshi is Japanese for "WE FINALLY FOUND SHOES THAT SAM & MAYA WILL WEAR!"

Seriously, Sam & Maya LOVE to go barefoot and we let them...most of the time. But there are times in their lives that they MUST wear shoes. Thankfully, Samuel has a pair of Crocs that he loves, but Maya...oh, Maya! After endless shoe battles, she has recently been wearing a pair of flip flops that are borderline acceptable to her.

About a month ago, I found an awesome kids' shoe store in Austin...Sandy's Shoes. They have a great selection of shoes covering a large price range & the staff is very knowledgeable. So, I took Sam shopping for tennis shoes. Well, after wearing Crocs for over 1 year, tennis shoes are not as comfortable. But then there is Tsukihoshi (insert the golden aura & harps). This is a Japanese shoe that is designed to have "barefoot-like comfort." They are super light weight & the kids think they look cool! Hallelujah...Hallelujah!

After another impasse with Maya and her shoes today, I took her to Sandy's Shoes. She tried on multiple pairs and liked the Tsukihoshi shoes "infinity %." On the way home, she said, "Mom, I feel a whole lot older with my new haircut and new shoes." She was so pleased with her selection that she wanted to sleep in her new shoes but was afraid of kicking Sam in the middle of the night.

Side note: I rarely give parenting advice if not asked, but I have to say....DO NOT BUY CROCS for your highly sensitive (in the physical sense) kids! There are numerous reasons for my dislike of Crocs, but to keep things simple...Crocs are like flip-flops. They are extremely easy to put on and comfortable. But when it comes to finding another more supportive shoe that your kids will opt for over their Crocs...anything will be a hard sale. I just want to maybe prevent any shoe anxiety and battles with your children in the future. (You can thank me later :-)
