My Fun Runners!

Yesterday our day started off with plans to go to Sea World. After breakfast, Stephen made the executive decision to stay home & for me to stay in bed all day! I have had a really bad cold for a few days now, but haven't stopped moving :-) The forecast also called for rain in the afternoon.

So, I spent a yummy day reading & watching "TV". Stephen stained THE desk while the kids (& Stephen) played in the rain. After our dinner, Maya wanted to go swimming (6:30 at night & drizzly). Being the best dad ever, Stephen said, "Alright, let's go swimming!" They returned shortly to change into their running shoes, shorts & T-shirts (Sam actually asked me, "Mom, what is a T-shirt?" Funny how we just assume they know these things.) The Sendera Fun Run was starting at 7:30!

I get a call around 8 from a very excited Samuel saying that they ran, got hats, what color the hats were & that they were handing out trophies, Bye!

Well, the fun runners arrive home with funny hats, 3 medals & 3 trophies!! Stephen was awarded "First Place Overall Male" which he really enjoyed bragging about to the other "lesser males" on the street, Samuel got 2nd place in boys 7-8, and Maya got 1st place in girls 0-6!! After all of the excitement died down, Maya explained to me how well she can swim, bike & run. And after Sam learns to ride his bike, they are both going to do triathlons. So cute!

[Sam's Commentary on the race: So, the race was very fun. Yes, it was very, very fun! We got some special prizes on the way and there's a construction site on this driveway. There was a bush with green stems & purple leaves & with green spikes all around it. You know? Well, and then once I passed by that construction site after zipping up my shoe, I saw Dad running this way. After I talked to him a little, well, then he ran passed me with my hat that I got at the special prize. Then after a little while, I heard that Dad saw Maya a few paces behind me not far from the construction site. Then, after a while I ran & got a medal. Goodbye! (His friends just rang the doorbell)]

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, MOM & DAD!!!
