I will have to post our adventures in sections due to the amount of fun we had :-)

We leave Austin & make it about .5 miles down the road until we realize that our newly handcrafted bicycle hitch attached to the camper has severly bent the bumper :-( So, we head back home, remove the hitch & all of the bikes. Luckily we have enough spare room in the truck to throw the racing bike in the back. And then we are off again...

At our first rest stop, we notice that the pilot light on our camper blew out. We relit it, but we have some concerns because our refrigerator is powered by propane while we are driving. While at the rest stop, we noticed a ton of butterflies flying around the water fountain. Maya went and danced amongst them singing, "Butterflies love me!"

Before we get to our first destination, KOA in Fort Stockton, TX, we see a very cool wind farm & find a geocache on the side of highway 10. The roadside had massive inch long thorns on the ground & the cache was hidden in a very spiky mesquite tree. The kids exchanged some swag & we made it to Fort Stockton with time to swim :-)

"I really like this campground. It has a playground and everything. It's really cool. I tried looking at the moon, but it's not out yet. My sister really likes it here. She's at the playground right now. That's it." -Samuel

We left Fort Stockton and headed to Carlsbad Caverns. We found another cache at a truck stop and were surrounded by flatlands, mesquite trees, sand, rocks, etc.
Carlsbad Caverns were breathtaking!!

We stopped in Roswell, NM for dinner & Samuel asked the waitress if she knew where the aliens landed, and she said, "I have no idea." We all concluded that she was probably an alien :-)
We ended up stopping at a New Mexican State Park called The Valley of the Fires. We saw it on an old map we had, and tried to call, but the phone # was disconneted. We arrive after dark, set up camp & kill about 25 mosquitoes who were looking for a "bite" in our camper. The park looks deserted with just one composting toilet...
This BLOG is wonderful! It is so good to read and see exactly where you went and what you did. The children are growing by leaps and bounds--Mommy and Daddy look happy and healthy! Love the tree house! Wish I had one when I was a kid. We did have a huge Oak tree at 216, though, and we did climb that! Thank you, Erica, for doing such a beautiful job on this...I know it is alot of work!
