Feeling a little lame here...just one of those days where your next door neighbor's house is struck by lightening, you drive through horrendous traffic to make the long overdue feed store trip to realize that you left your wallet at home & when you return home you find your tortoise's expensive heating unit broken during the first cold front of the season. I'm looking forward to a fesh start tomorrow...just sayin'.
Now that my lamentations are journaled, on to the update...
After Bella was knocking at death's door last week, she is back to her old self and wrestling with Little Dog. After much worry and a freaking huge vet internist bill (who ever knew there were internal doctors for animals??), we have figured out that Bella's liver is working overtime! Some female dobermans have a genetic disposition to liver problems that can lead to Chronic Acute Hepatitis. This just means her liver has a hard time processing all of the junk she puts in her body, and symptoms will start to show around 4-6 years (Bella is 5). We think that she got a secondary infection and it stressed her liver out too much. She was not eating or drinking or moving! It was really scary! Since the CAH disease can only be confirmed by biopsy and we do not have a "Bella Liver Biopsy" budget, we are just supporting her liver as best we can with an anti-inflammatory, herbs and a low fat, low protein HOME COOKED dog food. Yes, Bella is now probably the healthiest being in our house!
We haven't visited the ranch lately, but here are some of the most recent pictures of the roof on the addition, new windows in the new bedroom, the living room panelling removed and the grass plants we planted on the terrace behind the house.
Now sing with me..."The sun with come out tomorrow..."
