Samuel has started working towards his Webelos badge this summer. He completed a lot of requirements during day camp and the Webelos leader has also set up activities throughout the summer that will fulfill certain achievments. They have bowled, played soccer and did "Aquanat" this evening.
(I hope Samuel is trying to help Logan out of the water and not kicking him in the side)
Here is what they accomplished tonight:
1. Jump into deep water, surface, swim 100 ft (at least 1/2 in backstroke)
2. Float on back and front
3. Wear a PFD and swim 25 feet.
4. Do a surface dive and swim underwater for 4 strokes
5. Explain 4 basic water rescue methods
6. Explain rules of Safe Sim Defense
7. Play a water game
8. Flutter kick with kick board 25 feet.
Samuel did a really good job and calmly decided to leave after some other boys started being mean. He said, "I choose not to be around people like that." Whew! Wish I would have learned that at his age :-)
As an added bonus this evening, I found him scrubbing Maya's feet when we got home. We took Stephen a snow cone and Maya played basketball in the truck room barefooted. This results in completely black feet that MUST be washed off before going to bed!
