So, my 7 year old daughter beat me at Risk the other day. Good for her! Today she wanted to play Monopoly. I thought to myself, "Sure, I 'll play Monopoly. At least I know that I can beat her at that!" 3 hours later, I have been beaten FAIR AND SQUARE by my peep-squeak-of-a-daughter. She kept encouraging me by saying things like, "Mom, it's only a game." It was really sweet and I had to laugh when she danced around saying "I'm rich! I'm rich! I want to buy more houses! I want to buy more hotels!"
I have to chalk up all of these games I am losing to building Maya's self-esteem and her learning experiences of adding/subtracting, economics and logic/reasoning.
But to preserve my self-esteem, I may need to invest in some cooperative games that I can't lose at :-)
