Samuel attended his first Cub Scout Day Camp this past week. It was from 8-4 for 5 days! It was held at a pretty city park on Lake Austin. He had a blast!!! It took me some time to adjust having him gone & having to fix a bagged lunch every day :-). Stephen filled in for the Den Leader on the second morning, so he got to experience wrangling 10 hot, sweaty & tired Cub Scouts.
Here are the highlights:

They built & ran an obstacle course

A God & Country Lesson with a Budda Meditation Bell (Samuel is to the right with his meditation fingers ready!)

Archery (he hit in the red!)-I think this is the CUTEST picture!

Canepole Fishing

They hiked 3 miles the last day. They crossed the creek (up to their thighs) 8 times!

They swam every day. He got his swimming token on the 3rd day.

They dug through owl pellets-Yuk!

His den built a boat called Shark Attack. They were the first to build theirs, so they set the size standard-much bigger than previous years.

Sam earned his BB Gun Shooting Belt Loop

He also earned his Basketball Belt Loop

Rockclimbing
In the end, camp was a great experience. He is looking forward to next year and really wants me to enjoy camp with him (be the Den Leader).
What a wonderful experience for Samuel!!!! I am amazed at how much the scouts did in just 5 short days.
