Harold Reunion 2007

We all had a great time in South Dakota for the 1st Harold Reunion! Philip & Brenda really planned a fantastic camping trip in the Black Hills. My Uncle Nigel, Aunt Linda & Cousin Kaitlin came from California; my Uncle Robert came from New Jersey; the Texas Hopes & my mom and dad drove from Texas; and my Uncle Philip, Aunt Brenda and Cousins Meghan and Tessa drove across South Dakota. It was so awesome to spend time with everyone. Here are some of the highlights from the trip...
We saw most of the wild animals living in the Black Hills including prairie dogs and buffalo.

Stephen & I took a "strenuous" 3 mile hike in Custer State Park

We toured Mt. Rushmore. This is how excited Samuel was to FINALLY see Mt. Rushmore!
We all camped together in Custer State Park. We played lots of tag & Twister. Here are the "Fantastic 4"-the 4 Harold children (Nigel, Robert, Philip & my Mom)

Did we have any car trouble on our road trip...only a family of field mice caught in our vent fan! Did you know that rotting field mice in a vent start out smelling like spoiled milk, then it progresses to smell like, like....well, death! Uncle Philip saved the week with Ozium so the truck then smelled like dead mice in a gas station bath room. Stephen & Dad spent one morning at the campground hunting out the smell, finding it, cleaning it, and putting it all back to together with water bottles & duck tape!
We toured Mammoth Site and the kids participated in an actual archaeological dig

We drove through through the Badlands National Park. Maya is on top, Meghan & Tessa (my cousins & god children) are on bottom.

Samuel found his heaven at Reptile Gardens

We also went to Deadwood & rock hunting. It was sooo fun & we are all looking forward to the next reunion.
