A couple of weekends ago, our Camp Fire club camped out at Enchanted Rock State Park. We arrived on a very warm, 80 degree Friday. The kids immediately started exploring while we set up camp. We then explored Little Rock and learned to stay off the steep inclines and follow the trails! After a beautiful evening, we slept through the oncoming cold front and awakened Saturday morning with beautiful sunshine and strong winds. We all (except for the mamas with the infant and puppy) took a hike up Enchanted Rock. The winds were SO strong. I was amazed how Sam and Maya RAN up the rock! The kids enjoyed finding wind breaks here and there. We then proceeded down the the rock-What an Adventure! We found tons of little caves and then a huge tunnel of rocks to climb through. At one point we had to go head first and slither. It was quite a sense of accomplishment when we finally emerged. Then we headed up Little Rock again and looked back to where we had come from. There were tons of people casually walking down the rock not far away from where we had just risked our lives :-) Our kids definitely chose the adventurous path. We ended back up at camp very hungry and tired. We fixed a beautiful Mexican buffet (we learned about Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers this month) and decided to head home early before the really cold weather set in. It was a great decision, because Samuel forgot to pack pants and Stephen had to work the next day. It was still another successful camp out with the Crazy Cornsnakes Campfire Club!
