Texas Firefighter Olympics Day 1

So we are in Bryan, Texas...Home of the 2008 Texas Firefighter Olympics.  We are camping in our pop-up trailer at the beautiful Primrose Lane RV & Mobile Home Park, complete with pool, showers & good-ol'-boys.  Our neighbors are the Brooks, a family of Austin firefighters...mom, dad, daughter, son & daughter-in-law!  The son & daughter-in-law are playing basketball with Stephen.

Stephen taking a break with his teammates.  Notice the knee braced & propped on ball in background...the only girl on the team badly injured her knee during game 2.  I got a kick out of her just laughing when the College Station EMS arrived.  Like there wasn't enough qualified emergency medics on the field????

Monday morning was devoted to playing soccer.  The day started by doling out Austin's maroon jerseys.  Yes, Austin is playing in A&M country wearing maroon.  We are convinced there was an A&M employee at the Nike Jersey factory that laughed while changing the order from "burnt orange" to "maroon".  The first of three games started at 9am.  The first game was against Dallas (I think)...Austin won.  The second game was against Fort Worth...Austin lost 3-2 (Austin was the better team).  The third game was against reigning gold medalists, San Antonio...Austin lost 5-2, but put up an awesome fight!  The day ended with all four teams in the division losing 2 except San Antonio, who is undefeated.  

Tomorrow morning all teams will play again.
